Purposes/individual functionalities of the site

Things I needed to do
Identity
Consistent with Parkwood Secondary College ‘branding’ and colour sheme.
Change the colour scheme of the default wiki to be as close as possible to the college colours and insert the college logo.
Link to the college website to provide some context for any external college members who may be accessing the site.
Insert the College name from logo and make it a hyperlink to the college website
Clear link with Action Research Project
The title and URL of the website
Name the website 1 to 1 at Parkwood (https://1-to-1-at-parkwood.wikispaces.com/)
Purpose
Homepage to be clear and specific in relation to the site and its purpose
Edit text and bullet it to make it easy to read for viewers
To provoke thoughts about how technology can be used in the classroom.
Links to relevant videos on the web that highlight how technology is being used, or how it could be used now and in the future. This is aimed at provoking thoughts and reflection about how technology can be used in the classroom. This required searching teh web for online videos and information, embedding them in the site and posting questions for discussion.
Provide an opportunity for staff to share their thoughts about the videos and technology in the classroom.
Provide a clear link to discussion pages and challenge viewers to make a comment.

Provide a rationale as to for a 1 to 1 laptop program at Parkwood Secondary College
Inserting a quote on the home landing page.
Provide information from the Parkwood Laptop program by inserting text and hyperlinks to specific information.
Insert text and hyperlinks to relevant research.
Appeal
Visual - Look and Feel:
The website incorporates the colours of Parkwood Secondary College.
It also needs to include some text that provides a ‘snapshot’, pictures, videos and presentations.
Summarise text for easy reading and insert
Modify the look and feel of the website to be consistent with the Parkwood colours
Insert relevant and thought provoking videos from YouTube, Teacher Tube and Teacher TV.
Insert ‘Presi’ Slideshow
Use of images and small amounts of text.
Organisation of components on page.
Use the table feature to clearly organise the text, videos and graphics
Modifiy the navigation section to order pages in a logical manner.

Tab titles in navigation pane on left side of webpage
Name pages with clearly to ensure the viewer has a clear idea of what will be on the page
Clear and identifiable links with each page
Utilisation of links to external and internal pages to find more information (including pdf and word files)
Discussion tabs at the top of each page, with clear directions as to when to use it.

On relevant pages there are hyperlinks to various websites to support the Action Research at Parkwood

Create a navigation pane on the left side of the website with clear links to the various pages on the site.

Create links in pages outside of the navigation pane.
Interactivity
Provide spaces for readers to contribute to discussions to support each other in their teaching and learning in a 1 to 1 environment
Provide a space for readers to reflect on some stimulation material (i.e. videos)
Prompt discussions by posing questions or making statements.
Find videos that present a vision or point of view regarding the use of technology in the classroom and 21st Century learning to promote discussion and reflection.
Surveys
Provide a space for teachers involved in the research to complete surveys that will be used in collecting information relating to the action research question.

Surveys page for data collection was created using links to the ePotential survey and to Survey Monkey. Survey Monkey is web-based tool for collecting survey data. (please note that these surveys are not completed yet, but they will be linked to this page when completed as part of the action research)
